Obituary: "Myrtie Lee Dawkins Parnell, 53, wife of J. Ed Parnell of Warren, died Saturday at her home on Feb 9, 1946. She was born July 3, 1894. Surviving besides her husband are her father, H.D. Dawkins, one daughter, Mrs. Cornelia Mann, one son, Harold Parnell, three brothers Jack, Eddie and Morris Dawkins, two sisters, Mrs. Freddie Williams and Carter Phillips. Two grandchildren all of Warren.
"Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 from the Crossroads Church. Rev Lee Moseley officiating. Interment was at Parnell Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rucker Parker, Cap Simmons, Woodrow Simmons, Carl Wolfe, Virgil Gambill and Oscar Haygood. Those in charge of flower arrangements were Mrs. Rucker Parker, Miss Meek Waites, Mrs. Virgil Gambill and Mrs. Myrtie Simmons."
