He was a member and past Master of Cosmopolitan Lodge #872 in Port Arthur, Texas; he was also secretary, treasurer for the Lodge until his death. He was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church for many years and was active in his church as well. He took Holy Communion to members that couldn't make it to church due to illness.
He was employed by Southern Union Gas Co. for 25 years and was a Supervisor, being in charge of cathodic protection. He also developed several computer programs for the company. Although he was retired, he kept in touch with his old friends there.
