Ernest Charles Treubig, Jr.,
Age 62, passed away on February 3, 2010.
He was born on December 15, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York.
His family later moved out to Long Island, NY, where he graduated from Lindenhurst High School in 1966.
He earned the honor of Eagle Scout.
He attended college at The University of Alabama, where he played football for Bear Bryant and received a Bachelor's degree in Education.
He later obtained a Master's Degree in Industrial Psychology from Emory Riddle University.
He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1970 - 1990.
He completed pilot training on June 5, 1971 and served two tours in Vietnam, earning many medals and honors.
During his time in the USAF, he became an aircraft accident investigator and aerospace physiologist.
He trained many, many pilots.
He retired with the rank of Major.
After retirement from the Air Force, he worked as a psychology professor at Faulkner State and as a teacher at Foley High School.
He was a former member of the Conde Cavaliers.
During his last years, he was actively involved in the Sons of Union Veterans and was working to establish a branch in south Alabama.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Melinda Boothe Treubig.
He leaves behind two children, Marie Treubig Prine (Ronnie) & Ernest Charles "Chuck" Treubig, III.
He also leaves behind three beautiful granddaughters, who were the center of his universe; Carley Treubig, Kathleen Prine & Olivia Treubig.
He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn Schwarzkopf Treubig & his sister, Susan Treubig.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Charles Treubig, Sr.
In addition to his family, he leaves behind a huge number of friends.
He had a zest for life and love of adventure.
He lived every day of his life to the fullest.
He will be greatly missed and we will always love him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 2PM at Pine Rest Funeral Home, 16547 Highway 98 West, Foley, Alabama.
