LEBANON ENTERPRISE OBITUARY - 05/19/1977.
Marion Roberto Mattingly, 53, died of leukemia at 2:46 p.m. Friday, May 13, 1977, at Mary Immaculate Hospital. He had been ill for five years. Mr. Mattingly, a native of Marion County, was a son of the late John Artie and Mary Mattie Mattingly Mattingly. He was an employee of Beams Distillery, Clermont. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Brenda Herbst of Louisville; five sons, Leon and George DeWayne of Bardstown, Danny of Holy Cross, Jackie of Dant, and Billy of Lebanon; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Miles of Louisville, Mrs. Hazel Roberts of Bardstown, Mrs. Waniece Peake of St. Francis; one brother, John Jr. of St. Francis; one stepson, Ronnie Blair of New Hope; and nine grandchildren. Rev. Kevin Bryan conducted the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Mattingly Funeral Home, where a prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Bobby Miles, Donnie, Tommy and Ted Mattingly, Junior Rucker, and Eddie Peake.
