He was the s/o Solomon Terrell, Jr. and Sarah Hubbs Terrell. He married several times. He owned a country store on the lower end of Meadow Creek and was known for his love of "eating cheese"; therefore, he got his nick name of (Cheese).

Cheese and his first wife, Sabra Jane Floyd, are buried side by side at Mackey Cemetery.
