Bristol, Tenn, Dec 7. - It develops that Dr Campbell Anderson, who was on Wednesday reported to have died suddenly at his home in Gate City, Va, was really killed in his drug store. When found he lay in a pool of his own blood in a dying condition. An artery had been severed in his right arm, and from the wound he bled to death. Dr Anderson's brother-in-law, James Nelms, a young man, is under arrest, being accused of the killing.
The relatives of Dr Anderson appear to be confirmed that he was killed by Nelms.
It is stated that the two men have not been on good terms for some time. They were in the store alone on the night of the killing so that Nelms was the only person who could have told how it happened. His version, it is stated, is that Dr Anderson had severed the artery in his arm with suicidal intent, but the fact that it was his right arm and he was right handed tended to weaken the claim of Nelms.
The coroner is investigating the case.
Dr Anderson's body was brought to Bristol yesterday and was interred here in the afternoon. He was a first cousin of John C Anderson, president of the First National Bank of Bristol.
