Almira Schafer married John Henry Ausman about 1847. They lived the majority of their married life in Madison County, NY. A few years were spent in Wisconsin where their children Charles and Orra were born. Their other children Milo, Seward Richard, Franklin, Artemicia, Henrietta, Harvey, Purlette (Pearl) and Frederick were all born in Madison County. When she passed away, nine of her children were still living at home. After Almira's passing John H moved the family to West Monroe where he purchased over 100 acres of land. As adults, sons Harvey, Frank and Orra farmed the land with their father. All the children & eventual grandchildren were successful, respected citizens, most living out their lives in the central NY region .
