Almond Joseph Dall was the second child of three sons born to Mary E. Lance and Christian J. Dall. He married Mildred L. née Rains on June 2, 1927, and together they had at least two children. During World War II, he served as a T/4 (Technical Sergeant 4th Grade), in the U.S. Army with the 259th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Army in the European Theater of Operation. In civilian life (before and after the war), he worked for several newspapers as stereotype operator, including the old Globe-Democrat, World Color Press, Neighborhood Link News, and The Bugle. His last position was working for the Post-Dispatch, also as a stereotype operator, from 1959 until his retirement in 1975, at the age of 78. (bio by: Jay Lance)
