William S. Cooke(sic), 73, of Hampton, died on Friday, Dec. 4, 1970, in a Richmond hospital.
Mr. Cooke was a native of Mathews but had resided in Hampton for many years. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of First Baptist Church, Hampton.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rubie Cooke of Hampton; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Hearn of Blakes and Miss Ida Cooke of Connecticut; and two brothers, Arthur Cooke and Melvin Cooke, both of Staten Island, N.Y.
A funeral service was held on Dec. 7 in Morning Star Baptist Church, Gloucester, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Gaines, pastor of First Baptist Church, Hampton. Burial was in the Branch family cemetery at Bena.
