He resided in Midland, Allegany County, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on July 11, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted as being employed as a driver and also as being married.

Thomas was "Killed In Action" when his aircraft exploded on takeoff at Covington (England) Airfield, on a mission to Berlin, Germany.
