Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Mrs. Burgess was born in Coggon and moved to Des Moines in 1905. She was a homemaker and member of the Christian Church, PEO, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Des Moines Women's Club.
Among survivors are two daughters, Eileen Gardner of Sanford, NC and Charlene Newberg of West Des Moines; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
