Lynn D. Stockdill • 1922 - 2010

Lynn D. Stockdill, 87, Mesa, AZ, formerly of Hartland, ND, died Friday, February 5, 2010 in a Mesa, AZ Hospice Center.

Lynn Donald Stockdill was born on August 10, 1922, a son of Ray E. and Christine (Hilleren) Stockdill on the family farm near Hartland, ND. He was raised and educated near Hartland.

On December 14, 1942, Lynn enlisted into the Army Air Corps at Fort Snelling, MN. He proudly served his country during the following battles and campaigns, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, and Air Offensive Europe. Lynn received the American Service Theater medal, World War II Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal and the Good Conduct medal. . He was honorably discharged on November 6, 1945.

Lynn was united in marriage to Arlene Joyce Larson on October 19, 1946 at the Berthold Lutheran Church Parsonage. They made their home on the Larson homestead, rural Hartland, where they raised small grains. They retired from farming in 1993.

Lynn was a member of the Carpio Lutheran Church, Stanley American Legion, Minot Elks Lodge, Minot Eagles Club and the Minot Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, camping, golfing, and has spent the last 20 years wintering in Apache Junction, AZ

Those Who Shared in His Life: Wife of 63 years, Arlene, Minot; Children: Cynthia (Dan) Asbe, Minot, Kenneth (Sandy) Stockdill, Florence, KY, Bonita (Richard) Schmitz, Lolo, MT, Rebecca Vogt, Blair, NE, Kathryn (Rick) Anderson, Carpio, ND; ten grandchildren: twelve great-grandchildren: brother: Floyd (Leatrice) Stockdill, Garrison, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, and Percy Stockdill, Elsie Asmundson, Raymond Stockdill, Claryce Grosso, Joyce Lallo, Vernon Stockdill

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, friends may sign a register book on one hour prior to service time at the church.

Memorial Service: Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11 am at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio

Burial: A private family burial will take place at a later time.
