Born in Aurelius, Mr. Tavener resided in Cayuga most of his life. He was a retired employee of the Beacon Milling Company, a member of the Presbyterian Church of Union Springs, a member of the Salem Town Lodge 176 F&AM of Cayuga, a member of the Cayuga Volunteer Fire Department and a trustee of the Village of Cayuga.
Besides his widow, Eva Cole Tavener, Mr. Tavener is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Theodore Gelsi: a son, Herman F. Tavener; a brother, George T. Tavener and three grandsons, all of Cayuga, and several nieces and nephews.
