Alice Kathryn Rinker, age 85, of Aurora, passed away at 12:05 a.m., on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at St. John's Hospital in Aurora. Alice has lived in the Aurora community most of her life.
The Rinker's are a direct descendant of Joseph Rinker the founder Aurora and George Rinker the first Mayor of Aurora.
She was born on April 17, 1924 in Imboden, Arkansas, the daughter of Edward and Ida (Ellis) Crossland. On July 17, 1941 she married Howard Sanford Rinker. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1960.
Alice retired from the Juvenile Shoe Factory in 1976.
Her parents; infant son, Howard; four brothers, Henry, Bert, Jim and Charles Crossland; and one sister, Naoma Crider also preceded her in death. Those surviving her include, one daughter, Kay Rinker of Aurora; two sons, Rudy Rinker and his wife, Robin of Springfield, and Stan Rinker of Aurora; one brother, Edward Crossland of Bates City, Mo; three sisters, Viola Edwards of Springfield, Anna Maples of Miami, Okla., and Mary McKee of Monett; six grandchildren; Leslie Kay Martin, Lance Edward Wolfinbarger, Ryann S. Rinker, Rebecca A. Ward, Reghann K. Rinker, and Abby J. Klemme; nine great grandchildren, Josh D. Martin, Jared J. Martin; Samantha K. Martin, Deziree N. Wolfinbarger, Ryan D. Ward, Madelyn D. Ward, Jackson H. Rinker, Lucas R. Shaffer, and Emma R. Rinker.
A graveside service, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Clio Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, in the funeral home chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
