James William "Jim" Allen, Sr., 71, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, in his residence at 325 Virginia Beach Blvd.
He was a native of Rockbridge County, Va., and was the beloved husband of Janet Jackson Allen who passed away last Tuesday, April 6. For the past 50 years, he had been a self-employed painter.
Jim is survived by one daughter, Bonnie S. Allen of Virginia Beach; two sons, James W. Allen Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Michael T. Allen of Virginia Beach; two sisters Margie Johnson of Chesapeake and Hazel VanNostrand of Virginia Beach; one brother Maynard F. Allen of Fruitland, Fla.; and one granddaughter, Victoria Allen of Oklahoma City.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the mausoleum chapel at Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Richard J. Yates. Entombment will follow. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. today in the Maestas Funeral Home Baltic Avenue chapel.
