Elijah was born in Canada he married Jennie Clendenning in 1878 in Canada. According to the 1880 census they were living and farming next to Isaac & Phebe. Jennie died in 1889 after giving birth to a son Glen who lived for one day, Jennie passed away 15 days later. He then married Elizabeth Clendenning West in 1891. Elijah sold the 30 acres he inherited from his father Isaac in 1891 and with his wife Lizzie they could have moved to Port Huron Mi. at this time. He was a foreman for the Thresher Works in Port Huron in the 1910 census. Lizzie died in 1917, and according to the 1920 census Elijah was living with his son Francis Drake in Richmond Mi.
