William Walter Young, son of John L. and Matilda Young, was born three miles west of Ankeny, May 20, 1869, and died at his home in Ankeny, on his birthday, May 20, 1935, being just 66 years old.
July 3, 1892 he was united in marriage to Minnie L. Kobi, to this union was born five children, two died in infancy. His wife was called to the eternal home, May 30, 1924.
On April 29, 1934, he was united in marriage to Alice J. Abuhl.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two sons, Charles H. of Gerber, California, and Wesley A. of Boston, Mass., one daughter, Mrs. Opal Brammann of Corning, Iowa. Also seven grandchildren, one brother and three sisters, many other relatives and a large circle of friends. One brother and two sisters have preceded him in death.
He was reared in a Christian home and at a very early age united with the Methodist church. When the First Congregational Church of Ankeny was organized he became one of the charter members. He was always a faithful worker in the church, he held many offices in the church and always filled them well.
Funeral services were held from the Congregational church at Ankeny, Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment was at Oralabor cemetery. The service was conducted by the Rev. P. E. Shult, assisted by Dr. M. E. Bachman of Des Moines.
