MERKEL, Oct. 4 -- (Spl.) -- S. J. Abernathy, 7, resident of the Stith community since 1906, died yesterday at 6:30 p.m. while sitting in a chair at his home.
Funeral services were set Monday afternoon at the Rose Hill cemetery at Merkel. Time was pending arrival of an out-of-town nephew.
Mr. Abernathy was not married. He lived at the home of two nieces, Mrs. Maggie Wilson and Miss Myrtle Massey, at Stith. He is the last of a family of seven children, four of whom have died since April, 1935.
Mr. Abernathy came to Texas and settled in Fannin county more than 30 years ago. In 1905 he moved to Tom Green county and then in 1905 to Stith.
He is survived by six nieces and seven nephews
