GALENA, KANSAS: Forrest W. McCool, age 82 died at 11:03 am, Friday, Feb 12, 2010 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, MO.
Mr McCool was born Feb 18, 1927 at Jane, MO. His parents were Benjamin Franklin and Cynthia Jane (Blevins) McCool.

He was a WW II and Korean War veteran of the US Navy.

He had lived here since 1983, moving from the state of California. He was an auto mechanic. He was a member of New Hope Assembly, Joplin, MO. Among his interests were gospel music, fishing, hunting and teaching Sunday school.

Forrest was married to Irene E. Charles on June 29, 1947 in Galena, KS. She survives.

Additional survivors include 2 sons, Billy Ray McCool, Galena, KS and Mark McCool, Galena, KS; two daughters, Linda Willems, Baxter Springs, KS and Charlotte Bavineau, Galena, KS; one brother, R. J. McCool, Noel, MO; one sister, Roxie Rogers, Bentonville, AR; 13 grandchildren 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cleta Miller, one son, Forrest B. McCool, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, February 15, 2010 at Empire Mission Church, Galena, KS under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Ministers will be Dick Rogers, Pastor William Fields, and Bob Winnett.

Private family burial will be held at a later date.
