John Stephen Anderson, son of John Riley and Frankie Jane Anderson, was born on March 29, 1887 in Ada, OK. He married Lenora Mertice Peeples on December 3, 1905 in Hollis, OK. In 1915 he moved with his family from Wellington, TX in a covered wagon to his homestead in Abbott, NM, where he farmed and ranched until 1951. In 1951 he moved to Plainview, TX, retired in 1965, and then moved to Raton, NM. He later moved to Espanola, NM, where he died at the age of 91, on March 14, 1979.
He was survived by two sons (Bob and Riley), a daughter (Roberta), 17 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a daughter (Joyce) and son (John Marcus.)
