---Mrs. Marbra Isabelle Mikel, La Plata's oldest woman, died Monday morning at 1:15. She had been troubled with her heart the past few days.
---Mrs. Mikel was the daughter of Isaac and Sarah Thrush and was born May 4, 1847 in Lee County, Iowa. When she was a small child she moved with her parents to Missouri and they settled in the Illinois Bend neighborhood and she continued to live in that community the remainder of her life until about seven years ago when she moved to La Plata with her daughter.
---She was married to Noah Mikel in 1867. Mr. Mikel died in 1912. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Frances Clem, with whom she made her home in La Plata. She also leaves five grandchildren, Mrs. Leona Naylor of La Plata, Lawrence Clem of Windsor, Missouri, Ray Clem, La Plata, Clair Clem of Macon and Mrs. Goldie Phillips of Macon; one granddaughter, Mrs. Maun Saunders, died in 1917. Besides the grandchildren, there are fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
---Besides her own children, Mrs. Mikel reared Aaren Grigsby and the children of James Mikel.
---She attended the Christian Church.
---Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the Christian Church in La Plata. Burial was in the La Plata cemetery.
