Mr. Marquis was born Feb. 12, 1905 at Colfax, Iowa, a son of the late Hiram and Katie Cox Marquis. He was a longtime Freeville resident.
Mr. and Mrs. Marquis came to Freeville in 1936 and retired from dairy farming in 1963.
Later he worked at Cornell University as an animal technician as well as being a substitute rural mail carrier with the Freeville Post Office. He was a member of the Freeville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons: Kenneth J. (Joyce) Marquis, Kermit O. (Geraldine) Marquis, Clarence A. (Dorothy) Marquis of Freeville, Clifford A. Marquis of Kentucky; a daughter: Kathleen M. Moore of Sherburne; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel B. Breeds Marquis, on September 27, 1988.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Perkins Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Marie Wilkens of the Freeville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
Friends are invited to call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
