Elisha James Adcock

Funeral services for Elisha James Adcock of Sallis were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29 in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home in Durant. The Rev. Walter Hinds was the officiating minister.

Mr. Adcock died Friday, August 27 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson where he had been a patient for a week. He was 60.

He was a native of Proctor, Arkansas, a farmer, a member of Bowlin Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include wife, Mrs. Sarah Cochran Adcock of Sallis: a daughter, Mrs. Thelma A. Townsend of Pickens: a son, James William Adcock of Sallis; his mother, Mrs. Alice R. Adcock of Durant: a brother, Joseph William Adcock of San Antonio, Texas and five grandchildren.

Interment was in Bowlin Cemetery with Southern in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Don Buchanan, Houston Kyzer, Frank Cooksey, Danny Tavares, Howard Weeks and Jesse Snell.
