Funeral services for Delbert Wayne Birdwell, age 62, were held Saturday, July 15, 2000 at the First Baptist Church of Onalaska with the Rev. Tim Ridgeway and the Rev. Paul Fortner officiating. Interment followed in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Crockett.
Mr. Birdwell died Wednesday, July 12, 2000 at his residence in Onalaska. He was born Dec. 3, 1937 in Crockett, the son of Floyd and Lillie Rawl's Birdwell.
Mr. Birdwell was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife JoAnn Free Birdwell of Onalaska; mother and step-father Lillie and Forests Bigalow of Conroe; brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Eloise Birdwell of Palestine and Eddy and Kathy Birdwell of New Braunfels; sister and brother-in-law Martha and Glenn Matchett of Angleton, Earline and Kenneth Cline of Grangerland; aunt Maggie Bell Birdwell Vest of Crockett; sons Jason Birdwell of Dallas, Brett Birdwell and wife Windy, grandchildren Brooke and Breanna all of Onalaska, son Chris Routson grandchildren Corey and Bryan all of Onalaska, son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Kristi Lindsay, grandson Jacon of Humble, son and daughter-in-law Steven and Brandi Smelley, grandchildren Brandon and Ryan all of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and H. V. Davidson, grandchildren Melissa, Duke, Callie and Wesley all of Onalaska, daughter and son-in-law JoEllen and Johnny Gardiner, grandchildren Cody, Jessica, Trent, special grandson Patrick all of Onalaska, special sons-in-law Frank and Chrystell Smith of Cleveland, Dorris Kennedy and family of Cleveland, Mae Aldridge and Bryan of Livingston, Dewie and Janice Free and family of Pasadena and David and Melody Free and family of Tennessee. Special nephew Shawn Free of Livingston, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Glenn Kennedy, jr. Shawn Christopher Free, Mike and Mark Matchett, Jimmy Birdwell Jr. and Trey Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Duke Davidson, Richard Currie, Kenneteh Cline and Glean Matchett. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
