Died Friday, Sept. 13, 1996, at Blairstown Plantation, Clinton, East Feliciana Parish. She was born in Florien, Sabine Parish.

Visiting was held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visiting at Clinton United Methodist Church, 11321 Old South Drive, Clinton, 9:30 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Tom Logan. Burial in Masonic Cemetery, Clinton.

Survived by husband, Bob Reiley Jones; children, Elizabeth Reeves Jones, Miami, and Ann Reiley Jones, Tom Spec Jones IV and Bob Gilmer Jones, all of Blairstown Plantation; grandchildren, John S. "Chip" Coulter, Kathryn E. "Betsy" Jones and Reiley Lynn Jones, all of Blairstown Plantation; and a brother- and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Jack Reiley Jones, Richland Plantation, East Feliciana Parish.

Preceded in death by father, Gilmer Clyde Reeves; mother, Miriam Griffin Reeves; and a daughter-in-law, Gayle Lynn Billings Jones.

Pallbearers will be David D. Anderson, J.T. "Jody" Howell IV, Thomas F. Jaques, Frank King Jones, Jack Reiley Jones Jr., Jesse B. McClendon, Walter Snyder and James W. Tucker. Honorary pallbearers are John W. Barton Sr., Reymond DeArmond, Sen. Davis Folkes, McDuffie Herrod, John A. "Foxy" Jones, James J. LaNasa Jr., M.D., Frank McGraw, Tom Fore Phillips, John Ray Powers Jr., Judge Charles William Roberts and Ikie Roberts, directors and officers of Clinton Bank & Trust Co., members of Louisiana State Library board of commissioners and Audubon Regional Library board of commissioners.

She was a graduate of Whitworth College, Brookhaven, Miss., and Louisiana Normal, Natchitoches, and a member of Clinton United Methodist Church. Her family has a lengthy record of public service in the fields of public education and library systems. Her father was superintendent of schools in Sabine Parish and her mother was a senior librarian at the Louisiana State Supreme Court and in the Louisiana Department of Education. Mrs. Jones was a civic activist in local and stateorganizations and pursued her family's interests in public libraries and education, particularly in the rural areas of the state.

She served on the Louisiana State Library board of commissioners under five governors for a total of 29 years, from 1957 to 1982, and again from 1992 to the present. She helped organize the Audubon Regional Library, the first multi-parish library system in Louisiana, for the parishes of St. Helena, East Feliciana and West Feliciana, and was appointed to the Audubon board of commissioners at its inception in 1963, serving as its president for 32 years. She was named the recipient of the State James Oliver Modisette Award for Library Trustees in 1982 by the Louisiana Library Association, which honors superior trusteeship of library services. She served by gubernatorial appointment on Louisiana's Gettysburg Memorial Monument Commission.
