Obituary in the Smith County Pioneer
Mrs. Susanah Ball, a widow and veteran resident of this city, passed away, Thursday from ills incident to old age. She was a little past 80, and for several years had made her home with her two sisters, Mrs. Ab Reed and Mrs. Nancy Hatfield, who ministered to her most tenderly during her last illiness. Funeral services were held, Sunday afternoon, in the local Christian church, of which the deceased was long a member and burial was made in Fairview cemetery. The biographical sketch below is part of the one read at the funeral by Rev. Moore.
Susanah McNeil was born in Indiana on November 19, 1849, and died in Smith Center, Kansas, January 23, 1930. She married Levi T.W. Ball in 1876, to them being born two children, Noah and Clara, who with the husband and father preceded her in death years ago. The Ball family came to Cedar in this county in 1878, where they lived nearly a fourth of a century, then moved to Smith Center.
