Robert G. Dockstader, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday (Jan. 21, 2010) unexpectedly at his home.
Bob was born May 19, 1925 in Cohocton, a son of Roland Bayne and Agnes M. (Ames) Dockstader. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWll. He married Betty Jane Schmidt on August 10, 1947; she survives. Bob was a welder and inspector from Foster Wheeler Corp in Dansville retireing after 43 years of dedicated service. In addition to his parents, Bob was also predeceased by a brother, Roland Dockstader.
Bob was a member of many community organization while living in Cohocton; he was a member of the Cohocton Fire Dept., the Cohocton Boy Scouts of America and the Cohocton Liberty Masonic Lodge No. 510.
As a dad, Bob had many past times, camping at Camper's Haven, then traveling in a motor home for 13 years, seeing their children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty; his children, Robert James Dockstader of Dansville, Theodore "Ted" Dockstader of Melbourne, Fla., Robin (Don) Many of Risingville, Leslie (Terry) Moon of North Carolina, Bill (Lynn) Dockstader of Dansville and Tom (Angela) Dockstader of O'Hjaio, Calif;14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 W. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m.
