Mrs. Rosa Schell was born in Berne, Switzerland on January 23, 1873, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Boesiger, and passed away at a Lincoln hospital June 21, 1960 at the age of 87 years and 5 months. At the age of 11 years she came to the United States and settled at Princeton, Nebraska.
On February 12th, 1891, she was united in marriage to Mr. Randolph Schell, and to them were born six sons and six daughters. She lived on the farm north west of Cortland all her life till four years ago, which she spent with her son, Eldon, in Lincoln and her daughter, Mrs. Ray Tally of Firth. She was a faithful member of the German Congregational church at Princeton.
Mrs. Schell was a good mother, hard-working and generous to her family and others.
Mr. Schell passed away February 9, 1917, leaving the mother to run the farm and care for her children. Five daughters and a son also preceeded Mrs. Schell in death.
Those who remain to mourn their loss are Leon and Eldon of Lincoln, Mrs. Vida Tally, Firth, Harry of Roca, Vilas and Raymond of Cortland and Mrs. Mildred Wear, Vallejo, Calif.
Also 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild beside a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Cortland Congregational Church on Friday afternoon followed with interment in the Princeton Cemetery. The pallbearers were her grandchildren.
