Mary Elyn Evans, age 84, of Murphys Lane in Shelton, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Mary Elyn was the wife of the late Vincent A. Evans. She was born on June 14, 1925 in Ridgefield, daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret Tierney Boland. Prior to moving to Shelton in 1998, she was a resident of Bridgeport for 39 years and also spent some years in Stamford. She was a retiree of the State of Connecticut and St. Vincent's Medical Center. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church in Shelton and a member of the churchs Ladies Guild. She is survived by her sister Patricia M. Henley of Shelton; three loving nephews, Gregory Henley of Newtown, Peter Cater and his wife Andrea of Naugatuck; Philip Cater and his wife Luanne of Middletown; two nieces, Patricia Tottenham and Cyndee Burke of Shelton; her dearest best friend, Janie Keane of Stratford; several grand nephews and grand nieces and her loving cat, Cinnamon. She was also predeceased by a sister, Christine Boland Cater. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton. Family and Friends are invited to go directly to St. Margaret Mary Church, 380 Long Hill Ave. Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassion For Cats, 8 Huntington Street, Suite 182, Shelton, CT.
