The new year was only hours old when Utah recorded its first traffic fatalities within minutes of each other.
Victims reported by Saturday night included:
Clyde I. Barlow, 19, of Salt Lake City, killed in a car-train crash at a crossing in Midvale, Salt Lake County, about 2:26 a.m. New Year's morning...
He was the son of Ianthius Jessop and Claire (Harward) Barlow.
