Young Man Passes Away
Donald Clarence Smith, a grandson of Mrs.
Catherine Gronewoeller of this city, passed
away at St. John's Hospital in Salina Friday,
June 8th. The young man, a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Smith of Milo, became ill on the
previous Tuesday, and was rushed to the
hospital for examination. He became
suddenly ill before an operation could be
performed, however, and passed away
almost at once. The cause of his death was
attributed to a ruptured appendix.

Donald was born in Lincoln County on March
28, 1918 and was just past 16 years of age
at the time of his death. His entire life was
spent near his birthplace, with the exception
of one year when he attended school at Hays
Kansas.

He is survived by his parents, three sisters,
two grandmothers, five uncles and four
aunts, two of his aunts being Mrs. Ben Eilers
and Mrs. Eugene McKain of Delphos. Donald's
mother was formerly Miss Lena Gronewoeller
and was born and raised in the Delphos community.

Funeral services were held on Monday morning June 11, at the Ada Catholic church, with interment in the Ada Cemetery.
