Edward James Murray, 88, RD 2 Saegertown previously of the Brookville vicinity, died Monday, September 29, 1975 at the Meadville City Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past year.

He was born in DuBois, September 18, 1887, a son of James J. Murray and Mary Snyder Murray. He married Cora A. Reinard October 24, 1910. He had been an employed by American Transportation Co. of Saegertown for 15 years, retiring in 1955. He previously had been employed with Pittsburgh-Shawmut Railroad, Brookville, for many years.

Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Velma) Richards of Saegertown; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Cassi, of Kenmore, New York; Mrs. Jessie Crumb and Mrs. Frances Boring, both of DuBois; a half sister, Mrs. Marie Hartley of DuBois; a half brother, A.P. Murray of Brookville; many grandchildren, including a grandson, Dale L. Murray of Cooperstown; and several great and great-great grandchildren. Two sons, James and Alfred, preceded him in death.

Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald C. Galbraith Funeral Home, Brookville, where services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Clifford Grow of Meadville and the Rev. Thomas Akester of Brookville officiating. Interment will be at Temple Cemetery, Jefferson County. Local arrangements are under direction of H. William VanMatre Funeral Home, Cambridge Springs.
