MAHAFFEY, DICKEY SHOOPE age 72 yrs. missionary to India for 47 yrs. died of a heart attack while visiting at the home of Rev. J. W. Aleshire of near Stanley Sunday evening. Rev. Mahaffey had preached at a service Sunday afternoon at the Battle Creek Church and had been scheduled to preach at the Hilliard's Chapel Church that night. Sunday night's preached engagement had been canceled when Mr. Mahaffey complained of not being well but his illness had not been considered serious & his death came as a shock to his family & friends. s/o the late Marlin Mahaffey & Caroline Shoope Mahaffey, he was born in Springdale, Pa. on 24 Apr 1883. Married 11 Dec 1911 Eva M. Montgomery who survives him. He & Mrs. Mahaffey recently returned to Page Co. from India. Sisters, Mrs. Elmer Lawson & Mrs. Anna Swank of Pa. One son is deceased.
