Martha Magnolia "Nonie" Abel, age 92, formerly of Richmond, Centerville, and Indianapolis, died Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Goshen, Indiana. Born March 21, 1917, in Randolph County, Indiana, to Perry O. and Lucy Myrtle Johnson Koons, she lived in this community for many years. Nonie was a 1935 graduate of Losantville High School and a former employee of Indiana National Bank in Indianapolis. She attended Walnut Grove Chapel in Indianapolis, was past member of Beta Eta Chapter of Psi Iota Xi, and was a charter member of the Hoosier Art Salon Guild in Indianapolis. She enjoyed her family, friends, Bible study, reading, travel and the Colts.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Thomas Wigent of Ligonier, Indiana; three grandchildren, Wendy and Gary Gensch, John and Susan Wigent of Ligonier, and Amy and Jerry Klopfenstein of Portland; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Duane K. Abel, who died February 9, 2001.
Visitation for Martha Magnolia "Nonie" Abel will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2010, at Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Worland officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
