Son of Jacob and Mary Hoffmann, George married Tillie Stein about 1906 and they lived in St. Louis for their entire married life. At the time of their marriage, Tillie was a widow with a child who had a serious degenerative condition. George raised the boy, Adolph, as his own son and supported them by working as a waiter and bartender. After Tillie's death in 1956, George moved into the Memorial Home in St. Louis, dying there of a heart attack at age 89. He and Tillie had no children.
