Rt. Rev. Msgr. Leo Hoen was the first Rector of the "Little Seminary of St. Joseph and the Little Flower," a high school and two year college school in which many priests of the Diocese of Buffalo, New York, were trained. It later became the "Diocesan Preparatory Seminary," and was eventually closed for lack of students.
Msgr. Hoen was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Buffalo, New York on December 1st, 1918. He was first assigned as Assistant Pastor of St. Mary Church in Lancaster. He was also principal of St. Mary School where he also taught Latin and Greek. In 1925, Bishop Turner asked him to become rector of the diocese's minor seminary, which he led until his death.
