Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Shrader Funeral Home, Arthur, with the Rev. James Elder officiating. Burial will be in Arthur Cemetery. Memorials: Arthur United Methodist Church or Arthur Lion's Club.
Mr. Appleby was born in Douglas County on Sept.9, 1926, the son of Louis and Iva Neal Appleby. He was a farmer and attended the Arthur United Methodist Church. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Atwood Masonic Lodge 651, Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Springfield, Arthur Lion's Club and served 12 years as Garrett Township supervisor. He married Patricia Ritchey in Arthur on June 8, 1947.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Gary and wife Bibby and Jack and wife Mary, all of Atwood; daughters, Kay McCollum and husband Jim and Karen Perkins and husband Richard, all of Atwood; three grandsons, Craig Appleby, Matthew Perkins, Nicholas Appleby, all of Atwood; four granddaughters, Sharon McCollum, Laura Appleby, Diane Appleby, Deborah Appleby, all of Atwood; sisters, Grace Jones of Indianapolis, Ind.; Faye Robinson of Greenup.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters
