Born April 13, 1922, in Arkansas, he was a son of the late Wesley Barber and Pearl B Stovall Barber.
A retired farmer, he was a Baptist and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Pauline Fletcher Barber; a son , Grover Barber Jr. of Star City; four daughters, Mary Ann Mudd of St. Charles, Missouri, Shirley Ann Barber and Lillie Ann Barber, both of Star City, and Curlie Harrison of Dumas; four brothers, Coleman Barber of Central Valley, California, JR Barber of Parkin, John Toy Barber and Lewis Henry Barber, both of Fort Smith; a sister, Ellen May Manley of Mount Ida; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2 pm today at Griffin Funeral Home at Dumas. Burial will be in Pleasant Springs Cemetery in Coleman, Drew County.
