Dora was the daughter of James and Mary "Mollie" Foote Daniel. She married John William Utter in the Hawk community of Morgan County near the Lawrence County line on August 17, 1892.

In the 1900 census, Dora and John were living in Memphis, Tennessee with their 6 year old daughter, Zola. They were living in Decatur, Alabama when Dora passed away in 1901.
