Samuel Lyle Hunter, 68, of Clovis, New Mexico died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born February 17, 1942, in Reed City, Michigan, to Orrin Freeze.

He was adopted at about age 2, by Lydia (Kimmell) and Harlan Lyle Hunter. He grew up in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School.

He married his wife, Treva Thompson, on January 15, 2004, in Portales, New Mexico. He had been a resident of Clovis the past eleven years, moving to Clovis from Greenville, Texas.

He loved woodworking, fishing, hunting, bowling, roller skating, and crocheting baby blankets. He had a wonderful sense of humor. was witty and loved to make people laugh.

He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Clovis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; a daughter, Tiffany Elaine Hunter; a former wife, Opal Boyd Hunter; and a nephew; Brent Huff.

He is survived by his wife, Treva, of the home in Clovis; three daughters; Darla Hunter Dawson of Mount Pleasant, MI; Alicia Hunter Davidson of Wills Point, TX; and Angela Hunter Cronk of Hale, MI; one son, Samuel Allen Manza Hunter, three biological sisters, Charlene Brown and Janet Schole both of Mount Pleasant, MI; and Shirley, of WI; three biological brothers, Vern McQueen and Dennis Coffell both of Mount Pleasant, MI; and one other from Wisconsin, and his adopted sister; Debara (Debby Rogers) of Mt. Pleasant; three nieces, Lisa and Heidi Huff of Mt. Pleasant, MI; and Lexi Franse of Texico, NM; one nephew, Nick Rogers; 15 grandchildren; three step-daughters, Brenda Bioando and Melissa Mitchell of Middlesex, NC; and Jennifer Burnett of Utica, MS; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
