Death of Mr. H. T. Morgan

Mr. Howell T. Morgan, native Lincoln countian [sic], and resident for 35 years of Brookhaven, passed away in Jackson, Sunday afternoon at 5:55, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. L. A. Cardwell, where he had been ill for the past three months.

Mr. Morgan was 79 years of age and a retired meat-cutter. For about twenty-five years he operated a meat market in Brookhaven, retiring about ten years ago when his health became impaired. Since the death of his wife, about three years ago, he had spent his time among his children, and in Brookhaven which he had never ceased to love and regard as his home.

Mr. Morgan was one of the oldest members of the Bogue Chitto Masonic Lodge and was buried with Masonic honors.

He was a Baptist by faith and had legions of friends who will learn of his death with sincere regret.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock from Hartman's Funeral Home, Rev. Hosea Price officiating, assisted by Rev. B. L. Davis.

Interment was in Rosehill cemetery.

Three daughters, Mrs. L. A. Cardwell of Jackson, Mrs. A. C. Spink of St. Louis and Mrs. E. M. Dillard of Birmingham, and four sons, Mr. A. L. Morgan of Tylertown, and Messrs. Lauris, E. T. , and J. Smylie Morgan of Jackson survive.

Mrs. Spink was ill and unable to attend the funeral of her father.

The Leader joins with others in extending sympathy to those bereaved.
