Patti Michelle Mitchell Finley, 50, of Winona, died of cancer on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, at First Baptist Church in Winona, with burial following in the Winona Garden of Memory. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home, and on Sunday, February 21, from 1:30 until 2:15 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Winona.

Mrs. Finley was a music teacher for the Winona Public School system and a member of First Baptist Church in Winona. She was an active board member for Hillfire and was named the Winona Times Teacher of the Year in 2009. She received the WES 2009 MS Alliance for the Arts School of Excellence Award, and was nominated for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts National Award.

Mrs. Finley is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Finley of Winona; daughter, Stephanie Lane Ricks of Winona; son, Trenton Mitchell Ricks of Winona; mother and stepfather, Sammie Woods McClure and Billy D. McClure of Winona; stepdaughters, Laura Anne Finley of Memphis, TN, and Sarah Kate Finley of Chattanooga, TN; stepson, Patrick McVay Finley of Fayetteville, AR; brother, Bruce Steven Mitchell of Winona; sister-in-law, Jane Elizabeth Witt (William Paul) of Walls; aunts, Christine Box of Eupora, Evon Austin, Joy Ellis, and Ruth Blaylock of Winona; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Newton "Mitch" Mitchell, Jr.; and her grandparents, Jay Lester and Nannie Ruth Pearson Woods and Newton and Katherine Victoria Mitchell.
