A great grand-daughter of John Steele (1764-1818)& Mary Nessfield, Mary Steele "Minnie" Lord was born to John Bradley Lord and Ann Nessfield Steele Ferrand. On 22 May 1861 Minnie married Nathaniel Eldridge Scales. In the early 1900's they lived in a home built in 1893 close to "Lombardy" (John Steele's plantation). They had 9 children. Minnie preceded Nathaniel in death.
