Helen Kellett Thompson Thompson, 88, formerly of 300 N. Franklin Road, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Laurel Baye Nursing Center.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Annie Coker Kellett. She was twice married to the late Carlos C. Thompson and the late Richard F. Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson was retired from J. C. Penny Co., Inc. A member of Monaghan Baptist Church for over 60 years, she was active in the Golden Agers and Silvertone Choir and various other ministries within the church, as well as providing her own soup ministry to shut-ins and the sick.
Survivors are two daughters, Martha T. Batson and husband, Tom, and Teresa C. Thompson; two stepsons, Robert F. Thompson and Glenn W. Thompson; four grandchildren, Jessica B. Stafford (Jeff), T. Jeremy Batson (Katie), Anna T. McMichael and Adam T. McMichael and four great-grandchildren, Ethan F. Stafford, Gavin H. Stafford, Alden T. Stafford and Kalan S. Batson.
Mrs. Thompson was the last surviving member of her immediate family of 13 children. She was predeceased by six brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 31, 2007 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Graceland West Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Laurel Baye for their love and kindness shown Mrs. Thompson for the past six years.
