Obit: Mary "Ocie" Elizabeth Aliff Painter, 73, formerly of Ypsilanti, Mich., died Tuesday, October 22, 2002, at her home following a short illness.

Born May 17, 1929, at Mossy, she was the daughter of the late Bud B and Dillie B Wriston Aliff.

Mrs. Painter retired in 1978 as a cashier for Canteen Food Service located in the Hydramatic Willow Run Plant. She was a member of the Living Word Church of God, Mossy.
She was a loving devoted mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed.

She married George D Painter on May 12, 1947; he preceded her in death on November 15, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a son, Marty Painter; a grandson, Bud Painter; a sister, and three brothers.

Survivors include two sons, David (Jan) Painter of Ypsilanti and Eric (Margaret) Painter of Hickory, NC; three daughters, Donna Painter of Scarbro, Mary (Alan) Davis of Ypsilanti and Tina (Nate) Moody of Scarbro; two daughters-in-law, Trisha Painter and Brenda Painter, both of Ypsilanti; three sisters, Erma (Dan) Painter of Ypsilanti, Leona Proffit of Coolville, Ohio, and Arizona Burnside of Scarbro; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of niches and nephews.

Service will be 11 am Saturday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Paul Basham officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery.

Friends may call 6 to 9 pm Friday at the funeral home.
