RUTH LUCILLE RILEY was born in Wayne, Nebraska on July 10, 1893 to George W. Riley and Dora Calder Riley.

There were three daughters born to George and Dora;
Edna Riley, Ruth Lucille Riley and Gladys Florence Riley.

Their father or perhaps grandfather or uncle operated a drug store in this town. There still exists a prescription form bearing the "Riley Drug Store" name. Ruth's parents moved from Nebraska to Grangeville, Idaho where the family operated a store (probably a drug store). She went to college at Lewiston Normal School, graduated and received a public schools teaching certificate. She taught school in a one room school house in the Grangeville area.

Ruth Riley married Maberry Davis in Westlake, Idaho on July 6, 1916; just before her 23rd birthday. Her sister Gladys also married a Davis ... Maberry's younger brother named 'Madison'. Their other sister Edna married Ralph E. Bell.

Ruth moved to her husband's farm near Pine City, WA about 10 miles from St. John. She was an avid gardener and planted many pine and fir trees on the farm around the house. She built a Japanese garden with the help of her grandson. She gave generously to the Methodist Church. She was an excellent bridge player and a real lady. Her grandson stated, "I do believe that she never wore a pair of pants in her life. She would garden in dresses or a skirt and sweater, putting down a kneeling pad as she weeded, or planted away. She was also a wonderful cook. Her cinnamon rolls were to kill for." She lived to be 92 years old, outliving her husband Maberry by 18 years. She died in 1985 in New Haven, Connecticut at the home of her daughter Gwendolyn Collins. Her ashes are buried in the Lewiston, Idaho cemetery.

Maberry and Ruth had two children:

1) James Riley Davis
2) Gwendolyn Davis

Maberry was a wheat farmer in the St. John area.
