Seven Children of JOHN WESLEY RILEY, MD -and- ABIGAIL BURNET:
• 1st Son of J.W. Riley: CHARLES W. RILEY (1848-1912): The oldest son, served in the Civil War with the 112th Illinois Voluteer Infantry and later went to law school and became a county judge.
• 2nd Son of J.W. Riley: JOHN H. RILEY, MD (1850-1949): went to medical school
• 3rd Son of J.W. Riley: WILLIAM RILEY (1853-1888): went to law school
• 4th Son of J.W. Riley: GEORGE W. RILEY (1856-1924): went to law school and later farmed and had a store.
• 5th Son of J.W. Riley: BRUCE RILEY, MD (1859-1954): went to medical school
• 6th Son of J.W. Riley: HENRY C. RILEY (1861-1938): became a teacher and later farmed his parent's farm.
• 7th Son of J.W. Riley: A. LINCOLN RILEY,MD (1867-1951): went to medical school.
GEORGE RILEY married DORA CALDER on April 19, 1886 in Antelope, Nebraska.
The couple had three daughters:
1. Edna Matilda Riley (1890-1940) + [Ralph Emerson Bell]
2. Ruth Lucille Riley (1893-1985) + [Maberry Davis]
3. Gladys Florence Riley (1894-1989) + [Madison Davis]
George W. Riley was an attorney in Wayne , Nebraska. The Riley family, (George and or his father or uncle) operated a drug store in this town. There still exists a prescription form bearing the "Riley Drug Store" name, which was in daughter Ruth Riley's family cookbook.
In the early 1900’s, George and Dora moved from Nebraska to Culdesac, Idaho. He took over a homestead in Grangeville, Idaho, where he later owned a store. The family moved to Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington.
The couple's three daughters graduated from Clarkston High School in ____, 1911 and 1912 and then graduated from Lewiston Normal School where they received a public schools teaching certificate. Gladys then taught in one-room schoolhouses around Camas Prairie, Idaho and in Sunnyside, Washington. Ruth taught in the Grangeville, Idaho area.
George Riley passed away at the age of 67 on March 24, 1924 and he is buried in the Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston, Idaho, alongside his wife Dora. Dora passed away at the age of 88 on April 10, 1952. The couple share a Double Monument which has engraved 'DAVIS' and 'RILEY' on the face. The couple's daughter Ruth Riley Davis and her husband Maberry Davis are buried in plots 1, 2, 3, and 4.
