d. 28 March 1842, in Ditty, White, TN (now Putnam County)
He was buried in Kemp - Allison Cemetery (on Martin Farm).
md 16 Apr 1789 Sarah Tolar (Toler) -
b. 6 May 1768 Virginia d. Abt 1854 White Co., TN
d/o John & Sarah (Thomas) Toller (Tollar).

Revolutionary War Service, Orange Co. NC, 1778: Private for 9 months in Capt.William Lytle's Co; Colonel Archiblad Lytle's NC Regt.; 3 months as guard at Hillsboro under Sgt. William Riley and 2 months in Capt. John Whiteside's Co.this was about the time of the battle of Guilford Court House, his brother , Joseph was Lieutenant in this company at this time.

Cornwallis and his men camped out on John's father's farm about 8 miles from Hillsborough and took provisions, horse & buggy, furniture, etc, for which he was never reimbursed. This is interesting history and is recorded in John Allison's pension record.

White County..."On this the 16 day of February 1844 personally appeared before me Samel L. McCalib, an acting Justice of the peace in the for the County and state aforsaid, Mrs. Sarah Ellison, a resident of said county, aged seventy five years and who after being first duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obrain the benefits of the provision made by and act of congress past the 7th July 1838 Entitled an act granting half pay and pensions to certain widows" That she is the widow of John Ellison deceased who was a soldier in the war of the revolution and she thinks belonged to the North Carolina line of Troops and a part of his servitude was under William Litle, Captain and who on account of his service as soldier in said wars and in said line received a pension of $46 for ? and to the evidence composing the matter of the application after said husband for said pension she refers for such particulars and facts as are? in the investigation of her claim except a ? ?: her Bible containing the ages of their children as kept in her said husbands own handwriting, whih she herewith files as a part of her declaration, she further declairs that she was married to her sd husband, John Ellison on the 16 day of April Seventeen hundred and eighty nine and that he said husband John Ellison died on the 28 day of March, eighteen hundred and forty two.
