His first novel, published in 1961 "Die Karawane der weißen Männer" (The caravan of the white mans)won in 1962 the "Friedrich-Gerstäcker-Award". Until 1992 he wrote more than 50 books. He died in Eltville, 15 Kilometers far away from Wiesbaden and is buried in Hallgarten/Rheingau.
