Barton D. Asa was the son of Thomas Robert Asa, Sr. and Blanche E. Bernal. He married Inez Young on 12 Jan. 1928. They had at least two children; Thomas Robert "Bob" Asa III and Barbara Faye Asa.

Barton D. Asa, 51, member of a well-known Chattanooga family, died Sunday in Pasadena, Calif., where he had lived for the past five years.
He was a member of the St. Andrews Methodist Church and the Mosley-Wesleyan Sunday School Class.
He is survived by one daughter, Miss Barbara Fay Asa; a son, Thomas Asa III; two sisters, Mrs. J. T. Allison and Mrs John E Jolley, all of Chattanooga.
Funeral services and burial will be in Chattanooga, arrangements will be announced.
